As the tech world anticipates the release of iOS 18, Apple is actively seeking to enhance its operating system with cutting-edge generative AI capabilities. Recent reports from Bloomberg reveal that Apple has re-engaged in negotiations with OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, aiming to incorporate their technologies into the upcoming version of iOS. This strategic move is part of Apple's broader initiative to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, which also sees them in talks with other major players like Google and Anthropic.
The journey to integrate generative AI into iOS 18 is a response to Apple's perceived delay in adopting these advanced technologies. While Apple plans to introduce several new features based on its own language model in the next update, the company is keen on partnering with established AI firms to potentially introduce a ChatGPT-like chatbot.
